Let's talk about fear...

Updated: Aug 24, 2021

I’ll be honest, I am a single mother to the most amazing school-aged boy. He’s the light of my life and all that I do is in hopes of providing him opportunities for a stable, happy, loving and abundant environment. That said, I’ve been told that I’m making poor choices by pursuing my dreams and that I am selfish. These undesired criticisms definitely create thoughts of fear. Sometimes I end up letting my ego get the best of me and think...perhaps they’re right? But then I remember what the last few years have felt like being a part of something I genuinely believe in, and what it feels like to be in ‘creative flow’. I know that I’m doing my life’s purpose...my heart’s work.

Maybe I can’t take my son on spring break this year, but I believe that he will understand and perceive me as a strong, independent woman with integrity, grit and the courage to live an authentic and creative life. This is my path and I’m not throwing this opportunity away to please someone else’s idea of what my life should look like. As my beloved partner likes to say, “they can just go pound sand.”

To all my friends, future friends and whoever comes across this post, I know how scary it is to do your heart’s work. I know there is ambiguity and fear. But there is also courage and freedom that comes with owning your livelihood. Why would we think it should be any other way? To earn a paycheck? Well, that’s one way to accomplish your life’s goals. But if you’ve always had an idea and are fearful to go for it, I’m here to tell you that you can!! Believe in yourself and the universe WILL take care of you.
